No Words Left by Lucy Rose

Lucy Rose is dynamite! No Words Left is near perfection.

Soft, simple and wholly independent. Lucy is a brilliant songwriter, her fabulous vocal arrangements are layered between the instrumentations rich tone. The songs weave a web of nonconformity, lyrically centered on her maturation in independence which I think truly began pre-2017’s Something’s Changing.  The nuanced introduction of horns and strings throughout add much to the Joni Mitchell-esque writing and sensibility.

The Confines of this World is a stellar track, the guitar lines are so well matched with her vocal. The tracks on this album are instinctive and humble, nothing steals or forces your attention. This mix is near perfect, very balanced from start to finish.  It honestly feels a little early Nora Jones in flavor, however, I find Lucy to be a more open soul, a little less pretentious or put together.

Laura Snapes, writing for the guardian really summarizes this well: ” No Words Left, is her starkest, filled with lyrics about uncertainty and isolation, and yet her most striking, conveying the strongest sense of her artistic identity yet.”
