Tahoe-based Nick LaBella has a wonderful delivery in his latest tune “California.” Nick’s honest sound is richly delivered amidst the fluidity of his acoustic guitar and bluesy riffage. I find the references to the country and nature in his prose very meditative and calming. There really is a crisp electric guitar tone in the lead that cuts through with a hint of growl and punch across the more contemplative nature of the track. The break down at the 2:30 mark is really special; be sure to check it out.
The song comes to us as a call to starting over, pushed into starting something new, and leaving what you know and love behind.
